In the heart of historic Old Town, across the  Railroad Museum – the clinical research community was invited for this Networking Event.

Eric Garcia, Event Manager with two volunteers helping to prepare the private banquet room reserved for this evening.  Free copies of the award winning ACRP journal – The Monitor – with other Chapter litareture and sponsors material included.

The event was informal, no registration required, to enjoy the appetizers,the good times and the no host bar.

Secrets to Site Monitoring Visit Follow Up – NCC Educational Event at BioMarin, Novato, CA, 6-9 PM February 22, 2012

Prior to the presentation, volunteers – arrived 1 ¼ hour before the event started - prepared the event’s material including the printout of the presentation for all attendees.

The speaker this evening: Patty Kasper, founder and owner of P. Kasper & Associates since 1995, a recognized expert in clinical training and operation.

The presentation’s first objective was to identify three site visit follow up monitoring responsibilities to comply with current GCP and guidance.

Then to describe four activities that managers of monitors can perform to ensure high quality monitoring.

The third program objective for the presentation: list the key components of a Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) plan.

 

Several case studies were presented.  Site monitoring visit oversight discussed.

Options suggested when oversight monitoring by the sponsor is unrealistic.

Interactive exercise: groups formed for exercise # 1 and # 2.  

Group read the scenario, answered the questions through the group chosen spokesperson.

The Chapter Planning Meeting was held at this great UC Berkeley Campus location from 9:00 AM – Noon

The breakfast buffet best described was amazing, included a good variety of fruits, fine selection of coffees and teas

Bonnie Miller, President started the Presentation, which included the mission of ACRP, educational venues,  ACRP certification, networking, volunteering for ACRP, NCC mission, NCC region and local networks

Presented: elected and appointed NCC Board members, the non-profit organization status, Chapter governance and documentation explained NCC volunteer code of conducts described and Board Reports

Bonnie continued with NCC volunteer code of conducts then Board Reports were presented.

Galina Rumennik, Treasurer, she manage Chapter funds, receipts and expenditures, generates Annual Statements and provide Interval Reports to the Board.  Here she gave a strong financial report

The 2012 NCC Calendar was also presented including five Educational and three Networking scheduled Events plus the current Annual Planning Event and  an Annual 2012 year end holiday event are on the calendar with speakers, topics and locations

Sean Gerstenlauer, Chair of Sponsorship Committee gave a strong presentation: he identifies and recruits sponsors, presented the sponsor code of conduct, he works in Public Relations with the clinical research community, also manage sponsor tracker and business practices

Heather Brown, Volunteer Committee Chair who is the point of contact for new volunteers, conduct new volunteer orientation, liaison with Board for volunteer resources, manage volunteer directory and manage volunteer business practices.

The Planning Meeting ended well, the year 2012 started strong, with great, solid and promising plans for the Chapter

Event management tips and pointers were also shared as well as the 2012 Event Calendar was reviewed in great details, while we enjoyed the delicious food.

NCC ACRP was an invited exhibitor at AWARE SF Saturday, November 5, 2011 in San Francisco. This public education event about clinical trials and study participation was organized by the non-profit Center for Information and Study of Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP).
