This special issue delves into the factors that make jobs and careers distinctly different concepts. A job is a task. A career, on the other hand, is one’s true calling. It encapsulates work and life roles over a lifespan. The clinical research environment, given the diversity of its many functions and settings, offers myriad opportunities for not only a job, but a career. It is this dynamic and ever-changing environment that makes a clinical research career exciting and challenging. It makes a job a career.
